As a wedding celebrant  I travel around the country writing and officiating truly special symbolic wedding ceremonies in Greece. I hate the word officiate!  Because, perform, lead and conduct all seem like words more appropriate to my role. So, what would you choose for your wedding ceremony in Greece?  A symbolic celebrant led ceremony or the civil version? Don’t forget I am just a little biased because I am a wedding celebrant in Greece!

Marriage.

Marriage is the legal agreement made by any couple and the wedding is the ceremony to celebrate the marriage. So, if you can separate the two in your head you will realise that they don’t have to take place on the same day! Then you are on the path to start talking about your symbolic wedding ceremony in Greece.

Wedding ceremonies in Greece civil or symbolic?

Why do couples choose a civil ceremony in Greece?

  • They feel that they simply must do the legal marriage paperwork abroad.

  • They don’t know that there is any other way!

Why do couples choose a celebrant led symbolic wedding ceremony in Greece?

  • They don’t want a short generic scripted wedding.

  • The couple would like to include elements from their faith(s).

  • They would like to have unlimited choice of venues and are looking at holiday villas, wineries, beach venues, tavernas for the ceremony.

  • Family and friends can participate in the ceremony and there are many symbolic elements to choose from.

  • Most couples choose to have a personalised ceremony and include a little of their story. How they met, how they fell in love, what they love about each other, what they don’t! I think you get the gist.

  • These couples have decided that they deserve a celebrant led ceremony in Greece and they haven’t travelled thousands of miles for any less.
